The sitting ducks
BY

It is remarkable that we human species have survived so many centuries, as We pat our own backs claiming to be resilient and intelligent to tide any wave.
We think We have built systems that we are proud of and that it elevates our lives, while a hack or a computer virus can just wipe out such systems.
As far as I see that's the only possible threat that we humans with our intelligence have reasonably protected ourselves and can thwart from dangers of system collapses.
Everything else and every other aspect of our lives are fragile and vulnerable.
Incessant rains, leading to floods have washed off villages, towns and lives. Major Cities came to a stand still and life crippled.
The surge in no.of avalanches has left the hilly areas and people around, devastated.
The catastrophic impact the Cyclones, Earth quakes and Tsunamis leave in it's path is beyond imagination.
One of the youth icon, a young star's sudden demise due to Heart failure has left us all in shock...how many cases of sudden Stroke, road accidents haven't we heard that leaves them and their families in dire strait.
A psychopath extremist can just appear out of the blue and wipe us all out with one deadly bomb.
With so much hatred between the nation's across the world, any given day a war can break out, and we can only sit and watch the economies, lives crumbling.
A maniac political leader can come to power, make rules and policies that can hurt us bad, yet we march on helpless.
A group of people with personal agenda and selfish motive can choke cities and highways for years in the name of protests and bandhs, and We feel impotent to stop any nonsense.
And this Covid Virus that has changed our life's perspective. It has turned our lives upside down. I have written many articles and talked about the much larger and deeper impact of Covid situation than the direct health impact with the infection.
Bottom line, how much ever we think the humanity is in control, all these makes us so vulnerable, fragile and our lives so unpredictable.
Whatever advances humanity has made in science, technology and medical science, it seems we are just sitting ducks when nature hits us, we just stand naked and defenceless.
All we can probably do is be grateful and mindful of what we can control the little part of our life, bring some sanity on what we do and what we speak, appreciate and acknowledge good things in life.
The only power we have is to control our action and behaviour today and live life to the fullest.
All this only makes us to be thankful of what we have now, appreciate little joys of life and be grounded.
Well, most of you would say "Who cares? We’ll find out when we get there; I’m going with the flow"
