Politicians and Diapers should be changed frequently - Part 6

King's Politics

If everyone wants to be a King, this king wants to be a Minister!
Royalty nowadays is more of maintaining a legacy, heritage.
Kings then were afterall rulers and were running their territory, which has now become politics, disguised in the name of Democracy.
A king entering active politics has varied reactions, though it is natural for them to rule.
But how relevant is it for Kings to enter present day politics? Kings afterall have a status, position, respect... contrasting to Politicians.
Can this King stoop low to abuse opposition, express artificial love for people, use words contradicting their stature?
Kings have a sophistication, suave, aura and pride, and I personally can't see them compromising all these in the name of protocol!

"good to see after a long time"

A funny, but Apt Meme. When these leaders show up their face once in 5 years, the only legitimate reaction is "good to see after a long time".
Off late, we have to add to our reaction "Which party do you represent these days?". Either their sins are cleansed by changing parties, or they are given better packages and they keep changing jobs for better opportunities.
The leaders and voters forget the basic principle of our democracy: we are a Representative democracy. The local candidate who speaks our language, who understands our problems, takes our vision to the national platform and is part of the decision making process, is what is ideal.
Unfortunately, the candidate doesn't know us, not amongst us, even he/she asks vote in the name of someone sitting on top.

Majority in question

In the largest democracy, the elections are just less than 2 weeks away.
If you really think through it, Democracy is just a mere running of Elections.
Each side using all tricks in the book to win elections. If one side gets into the most bizarre pre-poll alliance, the other side has made a pre-poll alliance with Sri Ram, ED & Courts.
It's also unfair that win in a few States is assumed to be the will of the Majority.
Winning by absolute Majority is falsely believed to be providing a stable Govt, but a license to be unquestioned for the next 5 years. It's about suppressing dissent, silence criticism, keep raising prices and reduce them just before the elections, as has been seen since last 7 decades.

Elections fever

1 week to go for elections, and the result is already very clear.
Despite the rejection, hatred of self proclamation, that nauseating self glorification, vulgar display of lust for man worshipping, our Bond is all set to come back to power with a thumping majority.
An easy win is obvious - 40 Bihar seats, 80 UP seats, the rest is won in pre-poll alliance with Sri Ram & ED and the fate of entire India is sealed!
The more progressive and successful part of the country has never been with the majoritarian leadership.
The chest thumping of fast-growing economy, is also because of global investments into these open & tolerant parts of the country.
So, despite rejection in South, it doesn't matter much to him as long as he keeps winning & playing to his set gallery.

Citizen's enthusiasm to make Politicians rich

It's election season and one more reason for traffic jams. The leader's back bent by 30%, with folded hands and dramatic smile on the faces, artificially projecting as if they know everyone in their constituency, greeting and shaking hands with everyone, and their goons pushing people and traffic.
And the PM of the country comes to our cities, supposedly to campaign for his party, nothing to do with his job profile, yet all the protocols are followed and the city comes to a standstill. Though he is eternally in campaign mode through out 5 years, we normal citizens are used to his antiques.
What is more aghasting to see is the enthusiasm and excitement in everyone to see someone else gain. Majority of the candidate's net worth has gone up by 200 to 400%. What do they do? Which stocks/property do they invest that we ordinary citizens are not aware of?

Team Bengaluru

If one joker raises a sensitive and emotional issue of inheritance tax, another continues his slew of abuses against opposition, unbecoming of his top constitutional post, lessening his own stature.
Amidst all these exchange of below the belt attack on each other, it was a fresh breath of air when all Candidates representing Bengaluru have unveiled their plans as "Team Bengaluru", who intends to goto Parliament and work towards development of our city, as a team.
A true representative democracy, where our representative will represent us, our city, our problems in the national forum.
It's rare nowadays to see people taking development as agenda, as religion, caste, man worshipping seems to be their way of running elections.
No way am I a fan of any Party, but the messaging is good to see in present day politics!

Joke of D Day

Well, finally it's D Day..."We all will exercise our right today and choose our Govt" - how was the joke?
40% of India do not vote at all,
A % will vote in the name of religion/caste, % vote for their loyalty to a family or one man, % vote for money, freebies, % vote with renewed hope that either B or C will bring the change.
A small % are the confused lot who try to judge, measure & vote - irrelevant to the outcome.
A small incident yet reflects the larger picture: few women in Rajasthan got confused at the Polling booth, as they didn't find Modi's photo on the EVM!!
Yet, we are required to accept the "mandate" and can't question "supposed majority". We are anyway anti-India, anti-Hindu, now we are anti-democracy!
It is an open secret that all are here to loot, some do it in the name of Bonds, Policies, temple, development, some call it as Scam.
"The grass is not greener on any side, we will opt NOTA" - farmer's union.
It is also a joke to believe our "representatives" (MP) will go and elect a PM. If it was really that democratic, there would always be hung P.M.ship, and our Bond wouldn't be roaming around saying that he will be P.M for 3rd time!

Voted, hence proud

I am a proud Indian today, I have done my duty, I have made my choice, I am a responsible citizen now, I have decided the future of this country, I have chosen an educated, sensible, presentable, matured, wise man to represent me and my country.
Will India change now? Will we become a country who talks only development, education, employment and not get digressed with narratives, religion and opposition bashing?
Obviously not, when the majority are voting with religious and man worshipping agenda, all this pride goes down the drain and futile.
I can't question, because this is democracy, if the pseudo majority feels antiques, drama, fakeness, religious lust are the derivatives, there is no place for perspectives. I said pseudo majority because it was sad to see empty booths, which means another low turnout. And those who voted had substantial votes like my mom who does not even know the names of the candidates, but wants to vote for the party, she knows fuel prices are high, veggies prices are high, but she thinks it's because of the state Govt. She likes a famous Doctor who is in the fray, and she wants him to win. She just does not understand her vote has nothing to do with him winning, as he is from a different constituency. And other example I gave yesterday that women were confused about not seeing Modi's photo on the EVM, in Rajasthan!
This is how the majority is gained, and yet we can't question the mandate!

Done, checked, Inked...I have renewed my right to continue questioning!
It's only the words that come out of me through the keyboard and my fingers....the content is always you, the content is always your views that makes me write.
If what I write is positive, negative, hate filled, depends on what you sprew.

Fairness of Elections

Let's leave our political affiliations, love, hate, narratives, beliefs, favourites aside for a moment and see Democracy and Elections from the prism of fairness and logic.
As the apathy of voter turnout continues with only 60%, reasons including "my vote will not make any difference", or "whomever I vote for, X will anyway win"...let's for convenience consider 40% are NOTA.
Now even if the winning party gets 40% vote share, it would effectively mean overall 24% of India are in favour of the winner.
Despite 76% of India rejecting a party, they are still called winners.
The problem is not with the system, politics or politicians, it's with us citizens. We just do not have discipline, common accepted social morality, common grounds of fairness - be it in traffic, queues, general approach to life.
When each of us is voting for completely different reasons, agenda, how is it fair to accept such a mandate as a country's voice?
PS: this view is irrespective of B or C "declared winners", I do not have any favourites, I see both with the same lens!
